“We take pride in the fact that Quasys Inc. are authorized dealer for Kay Air Blower.”

Kay Roots Blowers are positive displacement pumps designed to move fluids—typically air—using a pair of meshing lobes that resemble stretched gears. These blowers generate a constant, reliable airflow that remains consistent regardless of discharge pressure conditions. As the lobes rotate, they trap a fixed volume of air between them and push it through the outlet without significantly compressing it. Kay Roots Blowers are known for their efficiency and durability in applications requiring steady, pulse-free airflow.

Kay Twin Lobe Roots Blower

Kay Roots Blowers, also known as twin-lobe compressors, are positive displacement, constant volume machines engineered to operate effectively against varying pressure conditions. These blowers feature two 8-shaped lobes that rotate in opposite directions. With each revolution, Kay Roots Blowers deliver a metered amount of air measured at the inlet conditions, ensuring a steady and consistent airflow regardless of pressure fluctuations at the outlet.

Twin Lobe vs Tri Lobe: Which One Do You Need?

Kay supplies both configurations, and the right one depends on your noise limit and duty, not on which is generally "better." Twin lobe is the original positive-displacement design: two figure-8 lobes rotating in opposite directions, delivering constant volumetric flow up to about 1 kg/cm² regardless of back pressure. It is simple, low-cost, and the right choice for most small-to-mid capacity STP/ETP aeration and general pneumatic conveying, at a running noise level of 80–95 dB(A).

Tri lobe uses the same principle with a third lobe added to each rotor. The extra lobe reduces pressure pulsation, which cuts noise by roughly 3–5 dB(A) against an equivalent twin-lobe unit and smooths out vibration. Choose tri lobe over twin lobe when the installation sits near occupied space, when vibration-sensitive equipment shares the same skid, or when a stricter noise limit applies. For the full comparison against turbo (centrifugal) blowers as well, see our Twin Lobe vs Tri Lobe vs Turbo Blower guide.

Applications

TRI Lobe Root Blower

The Kay Tri Lobe Roots Blower uses two Tri-lobe impellers mounted on parallel shafts, with each rotor tip shaped at a 120-degree angle. These impellers rotate in opposite directions within a casing that is closed at both ends by side plates. As the impellers rotate, air is drawn into one side of the casing and then forced out of the opposite side, overcoming the existing pressures. This movement creates a continuous, constant airflow, regardless of the discharge pressure conditions.

Acoustic Hood

Noise is the unwanted and undesired sound that can cause annoyance, interfere with desired sounds, lead to fatigue, damage the auditory system, and reduce work efficiency. Prolonged exposure to noise can result in hearing loss. With increasing awareness about sound levels, there is a growing need for systems that reduce noise to acceptable levels.

Frequently Asked Questions — Kay Air Blower

What is the price of a Kay Air Blower in India?+
QuaSys Inc. does not publish fixed prices online because the right Kay blower depends on airflow (m3/hr), discharge pressure, twin or tri lobe, and whether you need an acoustic hood. Share these details and we will send a quotation. Call +91 95408 15659 for a specification-based quote.
How do I select the right Kay Roots Blower for my STP?+
Key parameters are: required airflow (m³/hr), discharge pressure (kg/cm² — based on diffuser submergence depth + pipe losses), ambient temperature, and duty cycle. Our technical team assists with complete sizing calculations at no charge — share your tank dimensions and treatment capacity for a free recommendation.
Does QuaSys supply Kay Blowers with acoustic enclosures?+
Yes. Kay Roots Blowers produce 80–95 dB(A) noise, which can be reduced to below 70 dB(A) with an acoustic hood enclosure. QuaSys supplies complete acoustic enclosure packages with ventilation and access doors for noise-sensitive installations.
Should I choose a twin lobe or tri lobe Kay Blower?+
Twin lobe covers most STP/ETP aeration and pneumatic conveying needs at the lowest cost. Choose tri lobe when the installation sits near occupied space or shares a skid with vibration-sensitive equipment — the extra lobe cuts noise by roughly 3–5 dB(A) and smooths out pulsation, for a small increase in cost over an equivalent twin-lobe unit.
What maintenance does a Kay Air Blower require?+
Routine maintenance includes gearbox oil check every 500 hours, oil change every 4,000–8,000 hours, inlet filter cleaning monthly, and belt/coupling inspection every 2,000 hours. No internal parts wear under normal operation. QuaSys provides AMC contracts covering all maintenance pan-India.
